MALAYSIAN HUMANITARIAN MISSION LEFT FOR MYANMAR



The first batch of the Putera 1Malaysia Club Humanitarian mission team left for Myanmar on Saturday Evening.

Club President and Mission Head, Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahimy said the advance team of 14 members, including doctors and four media members would assess the situation and set up a medical base.

He said the team will head to the troubled Rakhine State in the west of the country.

Datuk Abdul Azeez said the main team leaves in four to five days time.

He added, a total of 50 people are involved in the mission which are expected to be back on October 19.

Datuk Abdul Azeez said the 500 tonnes of aid, including food and medical supplies, which left Port Klang on Tuesday, is expected to arrive on October 2.

Tens of thousands people have been internally displaced because of clashes between the buddhist rakhines and muslim rohingya since May.
